Sprint Event

Mariella & Dannika attended the Sprint Event at the University of Warwick last Friday; The Sprint Event focuses on helping undergraduate women build confidence in both their personal and working life. Dannika spoke to the group on the day about problems she has faced and worked through herself, and they also got involved in team role plays, focusing on how to deal with typical daily experiences. We had a lot of fun, and it really is an amazing event that helps a lot of people!! We are very much looking forward to going back in January for the refresher day!!

University of Warwick –

Summer Careers Fair

On Friday 12th August, the whole team headed over to Bank, Birmingham, to talk about all things business – Past, Present & Future. The afternoon consisted of a few alcoholic beverages and canapes, along with a presentation from one of our Director’s Mitch. Exciting things to come here at Mitchell Adam!!

We attended the University of Warwick, Summer Careers Fair yesterday, with lots of Graduates now finished and looking for what to do next – it was the perfect opportunity to speak with them face to face and give them advise on their next move.

The University itself was lovely and we were very impressed with the calibre of students passing through. The day flew by and after chatting to lots of students while handing out endless amounts of Mitchell Adam sweets the day came to an end.

We were able to find a lot of graduates interested in starting a career within the Accountancy & Finance sector  and we will now be requesting CV’s to help them begin their search.

All in all, it was a very successful day.

West Midlands Business Masters                              Awards 2016

On the 16th June 2016 myself, Sukh and Dannika attended the West Midlands Business Masters Awards at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, celebrating excellence in all aspects of business life within the West Midlands.

The night started with a Champagne reception looking over the cricket ground and then followed with a lovely three course meal and of course the awards ceremony. We were honoured to have been nominated for the “Fast Growth” Award alongside some of the most recognised businesses in the West Midlands.

It was amazing to see so many businesses in the region being rewarded and celebrating how much they have achieved in the last year and we want to congratulate everybody who won an award last night.

A fun night was had by all and we hope to be there again next year!

Christmas Fundraising for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

                                             xmasteam2

Our social responsibility as a company is something that we take very seriously and pride ourselves in trying to do as much as possible for the community. 2015 has seen us take part in and support a number of events and causes and we intend to do even more in 2016.

On Friday 11th December, Mitchell Adam hosted their Charity Christmas Jumper day   which saw all staff turn up in fun jumpers and Santa hats. Along with this, we had a bake off and bought in an array of delicious home made sweet and savoury treats including Pizza sandwiches, Steak and Guinness pies, Salted Carmel brownies and Chocolate truffles.

Further to this, all 700 of our company Christmas cards have gone out to our clients with support to Acorns and 5p from every card being donated

Lastly, on Saturday 12th December, Zeena and I volunteered our afternoon to work the Acorns stall down at the Christmas German market.

We were helped by PwC’s Gabrielle Scotford who also donated three hours of her time to help us sell sweets, chocolate, treats and toys with every penny being given to the Children’s Hospice.

Autumn Careers Fairs 2015

We are delighted to have been able to attend student careers fairs at both Aston and The University of Birmingham last month.

Having not visited the University of Birmingham before I was very much impressed with the stunning architecture and the beautiful grounds in which it sits. We set up in the Great Hall in a perfect location close to PwC, Barclays and ACCA.

We were particularly pleased with the volume of footfall that passed and how engaging the students were. Both Matt and I chatted endlessly to many undergraduates about careers within finance and accountancy and the five hours seemed to fly by.

                                             bhamcareers

The following week, Ron, Zeena and I attended Aston University where we set up yet another stand in the premier area of Conference Aston where we talked and advised many impressive students regarding a career in accountancy. We met one in particular Master’s student who came up to us and explained that it was one of our director Mitchell Thompson who got her into finance and found her first accountancy role.

Again the day went very quickly and the whole place was buzzing with a diverse array of student the entire day.

                                      astoontable

We love attending these events and giving out our careers knowledge whether it is CV tips or deciding what type of accountancy career to get into..

As ever, our branded sweets and pig shaped money banks proved very popular and we look forward to attending more fairs in 2016.

Acorns Charity Lunch Party

As part of our social responsibility as a company and our commitment to helping our chosen charity Acorns Children hospice we try to get involved, where possible, with as many fund raising events as we can.  So when Sally and Charlotte from Acorns told me about the “Great Big Kids Party” that they were promoting throughout June, we instantly wanted to get involved.   Acorns Charity

The idea was to host a party either with friends, family or work colleagues, theme it as you please in which ever way you feel would make the most money and just generally have a bit of fun.

acorn3       acorn4

Here at Mitchell Adam, we decided to have a Lunch Party whereby we would all make, bake and prepare food to bring into the office to sell to each other over lunch time. Being based in a three storey building along side GBR Phoenix Beard, CORE Marketing and NCS we also invited them to pop in and grab a bite.

   acorn1         acorn 2

We put on a fantastic spread that included, just naming a few, Homemade Pizza’s, Samosas, Pies, Chilli Con Carne, Chicken skewers and Thai meatballs. Also a fantastic range of homemade cakes and biscuits. The best being made by our director Adam Butler’s wife – A homemade Minion cake !

A great lunchtime enjoyed by all and nobody left hungry !

Warwick University Careers Fair – 23 June 2015

The whole Mitchell Adam team know how important careers fairs are for students. Whether they are graduating this year or in two years time. University is a time where so many paths are open and so many choices available. This is why we try to attend as many as we can all over the Midlands throughout the year. This time around we put a team of three from our office together and headed to the beautiful Warwickshire University. Zeena, Emma and Ben set up an impressive stall in the spacious Rootes building of the university. From 12pm onwards the room was buzzing with students from all years and academic backgrounds as they walked around the many different stalls munching on the free popcorn provided.

                                    fair6

Zeena, who specialises in temporary recruitment spoke with many students and gave advice on how to gain experience within the industry as well as some great cv tips. It was fantastic to see some big faces there with the likes of ACCA, CIMA, EY and Deloitte all setting up superb stalls close to ours.

fair3     fair14

Emma and Ben, who are still fairly new to the Mitchell Adam team, also enjoyed spending the day promoting the brand and talking to students and other businesses that were there.

All in all a fantastic day in sunny Warwick, we were very welcomed by all of the Warwick University staff and look forward to coming back in the Autumn.

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” – Winston Churchill

Here at Mitchell Adam our values are at the core of everything we do. We don’t see people as numbers on a database, we see them as individuals who deserve the very best: be this job prospects or quality of life. So, taking our core values, and the pride we have for being a west midlands based business, we want to give back. We want to help some of the many great causes and charities, get involved in the local community and help make improvement for future generations.

Acorns CharityWe are supporters of Acorns Children hospice – the work they do across three midlands sites is truly inspiring, and for them to continue the fantastic work they do they need over £8 million each and every year. We will be involved in events hosted by Acorns and those connected to the charity, as well as raising money ourselves on behalf of the charity.

We now sponsor a local under 9’s football team – The CCC’s . We will be supporting these mini Beckham’s and Rooney’s to cup glory for the foreseeable future!

As we grow, over the next few months and years, we will continue to support more and more causes that are close to our hearts – so watch this space, as it will be updated regularly!

Go CCC’s!!

Internship Fair – University of Birmingham

We’ve been out and about around The University of Birmingham campus again (we just can’t keep away!). This time we were talking to the students about internships – a new project we’re working on.

So on the 4th February the Mitchell Adam Directors – Mitchell Thompson and Adam Butler – took to the open road (well, Bristol Street – no one said the road was long!) to meet the lovely students looking to be apart of our new intern opportunities.

There were over 790 students in attendance, and from the look of our email sign up sheet the guys spoke to quite a few! The feedback has been positive from both the directors and the students. We look forwards to hopefully working with some of them in the very near future!

Year 10 Practice Interview Day at North Birmingham Academy

We sent Nicola down to North Birmingham Academy on Monday (13th April 2015), to help out with their year 10 interview day.

She had the pleasure of interviewing five lovely young ladies. Each student came well prepared – with CV in hand and bags of enthusiasm. And though they may have started the interview nervously, by the end it was clear to see how passionate they were about their future.

Giving back to the local community is something we take pride in at Mitchell Adam, and we hope to be able to use our expertise to make a difference. We all know youth unemployment, though on the decline, is a big problem in the UK. It’s an issue we have to face head on and take responsibility for. We certainly plan to.

We look forward to the next practice interview day!
