The Team

  • Mitchell Thompson

Mitchell got into financial recruitment after leaving university nearly fifteen years ago, and it was apparent to him even in the very early days that he had found his niche and that recruitment was going to be his chosen career path. With no previous experience Mitchell was thrown in at the deep end somewhat and was asked to open up a new Birmingham branch for an established North West recruitment business. Armed with just a phone and a yellow pages, within three years he had created the company’s most successful branch and he had established himself as the most successful consultant in the entire business.

“It was from building something from scratch and with no supporting database or recognised brand that I learnt the recruitment lessons I still use today. Clients and candidates like to be treated as individuals, they want to experience a premier service and get the best advice possible. Now with the benefit of many years of experience and advanced networks all over the Midlands region, I am one of the best equipped people available to help guide your career in finance”

Although a serious recruitment professional who is very passionate about his job he has many other passions and believes in a work life balance. If he is not travelling around the globe then you will probably catch him playing football, as he is still very committed to becoming the next Paul Gascoigne! When it comes to winding down he loves spending time with his family, however enjoying a crafty cider in the local watering hole is also something he likes to find time for.

After a stint in Melbourne setting up a commercial finance recruitment arm for one of Australia’s fastest growing firms Adam returned to the UK to establish a qualified recruitment network throughout the Midlands. In 2011 he set up Mitchell Adam where he is primarily responsible for qualified and part-qualified recruitment.

“We set up Mitchell Adam with the aim of providing a market leading service that offers honest, transparent advice based on many years of experience. I get real pleasure from understanding the businesses and people that we work with and think we are in a unique position to help our clients achieve their goals and make sure our candidates can leave work with a smile on their face.

  • Kuran Jandu

Having graduated from Coventry University in HR & Law, Kuran fell into recruitment not so long after and cut his teeth at a national recruiter. Fast forward 4 years and Kuran now heads up Mitchell Adams practice team UK wide! Within this time, Kuran saw himself quickly establish a great reputation with both his clients and candidates in the marketplace – it’s testament to these relationships which sees the vast majority of Kuran’s work come via referrals and/or repeat business.

“Mitchell Adam are a business which maintains zero bias on which kind of recruiter we hire, however a few traits are mutually exclusive throughout the business; transparent, fun, hard working and entrepreneurial. By default these 4 key attributes are the reason why we have an impeccable reputation with so many great candidates and clients alike.

My role within our business is simple – grow and sustain a profitable arm of Mitchell Adam within Professional Services UK wide. Initiating strategic development in tandem with intertwining our firms culture and DNA will be critical in ensuring the success of our growth, whilst continued support and leadership from our Partners and wider infrastructure will enable us to achieve this.

I am excited by what lays ahead for the business and will look forward to meeting more clients and candidates who we can add value to”.

  • Ron Adjei

AAT qualified and formerly working in finance for almost 4 years, Ron felt it was time to begin a new career path and joined the team at Mitchell Adam. He wanted to put his communication skills to better use whilst still being able to utilise the transferable skills gained from his time in accounts.

“I started at Mitchell Adam in July 2015 where I joined as a Consultant on the clerical desk having previously worked in accounts around that level. After about six months developing well within the clerical desk I naturally progressed towards Part Qualified recruitment due to my strong technical knowledge; this involved working with candidates and helping them bridge the gap from being AAT qualified Accounts Assistants to newly qualified accountants. Prior experience within accounts gave me a really good platform to build on and during my time here at Mitchell Adam my knowledge has broadened further with the need to understand a variety of different roles from both a client and candidates perspective. Through hard work, good attention to detail and the odd long night or two, I have now been given the opportunity to move into a Senior Consultant position here at Mitchell Adam. I am looking forward to getting more involved in helping to develop the business  and bringing some new ideas to the table.”

Outside of work Ron is a keen footballer and likes to try and keep fit by going to the gym. With 6 days out of the week being pretty fast paced with work and football, when it comes to a Sunday, Ron likes nothing more then unwinding with a day full of sitting and lying down.

  • Matthew Booth

Matt worked previous to joining Mitchell Adam within the Accountancy sector. Having worked his way up from Accounts Assistant to Purchase Ledger Clerk to Finance Assistant and spent almost 3 years studying towards his AAT alongside working in both Practice and Industry he decided it was time for a change. After coming in for an interview originally for another finance position, Matt jumped at the chance to divert his career to work as a Financial Consultant at Mitchell Adam.

“I started at Mitchell Adam in October 2015 after initially coming in to interview for an Accountancy position.  After speaking to a few of the consultants I realised there was a genuine career opportunity at Mitchell Adam where I could use my technical experience as an Accountant, accompanied with my passion to develop relationships and add value to a growing business. I was given extensive training / support specialising within the part-qualified sector which means working alongside candidates ranging from AAT qualified right the way up to newly qualified accountants.  A year and a half later I am fortunate enough to receive the promotion I have been working towards as a Senior Consultant. I will be focusing on progressing further within the recruitment industry whilst assisting Mitchell and Adam with expanding the company. There are exciting times ahead for Mitchell Adam and I am glad to be fully on board.”

  • Megan Maguire

After graduating from Portsmouth University in Applied Languages, Megan fell into her first recruitment job working in the supply chain sector. After working for a big agency, Megan decided her personality and recruitment style was better suited to a smaller independent agency.

Megan has worked as a Finance Recruiter for the last five years recruiting both temporary and permanent appointments from a clerical level through to a qualified level. Whilst this has given her a wide breadth of experience, she is now enjoying focusing on one part of the market- permanent clerical appointments.

“With the candidate market becoming increasingly buoyant, I thought it was more important than ever to specialise in a particular level of Finance candidates to provide my clients with the best people in the market, and to offer a very personalised service to the candidates I am representing. I can offer market expertise to both candidates and clients at the clerical level and give them both a top service, which is what I am all about as a recruiter”

There he selected and coached students from underrepresented backgrounds to secure roles at top investment banking and finance organisations including Deutsche Bank and KPMG. Kieran’s passion for Finance influenced him to springboard his career into the Midlands Finance market joining Mitchell Adam where he specialises in temporary assignments.

“The breadth of recruitment experience, impressive track record and proactive leadership at Mitchell Adam is second to none. My desire to join MA stemmed primarily from the commercially mature approach that is pervasive in its business growth, candidate management and employee development.

I enjoy working in an established but growing boutique finance business surrounded by focused, ambitious and fun colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
My mission for the temporary assignment division is clear. To ensure that I foster and grow existing relationships, expand the reach of our brand and continually advance our offering to the needs of our individual finance clients.

  • Jessica Webster

Jessica has 7 years’ experience in accountancy, starting as an AAT apprentice in the public sector and eventually becoming fully qualified. After completing her studies she moved to an IT recruitment company working as an assistant accountant before relocating to an SAP consultancy. During this time Jessica decided she wanted to continue with a career in the recruitment sector after missing the atmosphere it provided and took the plunge December 2017 by joining the Mitchell Adam team.

“I have worked in accountancy for 7 years, whilst studying towards my AAT qualifications working in different businesses in industry from care, recruitment, to IT. After working in accountancy for a recruitment business, I realised this was actually what I would like to do and decided to take the jump into recruitment. I decided it would be best for me to work in finance recruitment, because it would be easy to relate to candidates in the part qualified market and also have the knowledge to understand what clients want when recruiting the best talent. I am looking forward to the challenges and job satisfaction recruitment gives you on a daily basis.”

  • Nick Bennett

After graduating from Manchester University in Economics, Nick fell into his first recruitment job working in the education sector. After almost two years recruiting for schools, he decided it was time for a change. Nick wanted to use his previous experience and desire to provide a high quality service to help further expand Mitchell Adam’s reputation within our professional services team, specifically within UK Accountancy Practice. Initially joining Mitchell Adam to assist in setting up our Warwickshire business, Nick has developed his desk focusing solely on Accounting firms.

Nick specialises in manager to partner level placements, with extensive experience in senior level headhunting assignments.

“I specialise within the Accountancy Practice sector, which is an area I find interesting and challenging. Operating within such a candidate short market has meant my job here has developed into a headhunting and project delivery focused role. Mitchell Adam have always supported and encouraged my preferred style of a ‘people focused’ approach to recruitment – the mature and professional environment at MA is something we’re all incredibly proud of and has allowed me to develop personally and professional during my years here so far.

I started my career in recruitment working within the Education sector, before moving over to MA to help set up the Warwickshire business. I have now found my home in Accountancy Practice, and look forward to continue to do my part to drive the growth of the company.”

  • George Janackovic

After enjoying a successful career in hospitality, having progressed from a humble glass collector to managing an independent coffee house, George was searching for a role that could utilise his transferable skills. The move into recruitment has been somewhat of a seamless one for George, who truly enjoys engaging with new people daily, building relationships and, above all else, helping people to find new careers as successfully as he found his. George identified the Finance market to be one of particular interest to him due to having family connections within Corporate Finance whilst also identifying the opportunity in this sector.

“Having made a big decision to leave an industry that I was forging a decent career for myself in, taking the risk to start again was one I could not take lightly. Having put the time in to draw up a new CV, research businesses that I would like to join and then actually come round to submit some applications, I was stunned to read a hilarious advert which I now know was written by our director, Mitchell.
Running off what I can only assume was a critical instinct, Mitchell took the punt to give me a call. Since that first call I can honestly say I have not looked back. I could not have possibly dreamt up a smoother transition into a new career and also feel grateful to be surrounded by likeminded, fun-loving individuals who are a pleasure to spend five days a week with… and the occasional Saturday too!”

In his spare time, George enjoys sports of all kind, from football through to aggressive inline skating, you name it, he’s got something to say about it at the very least. It is worth noting that even in his mid-twenties George has officially retired from all form of competition, choosing instead to be a sofa pundit.

Interesting personal fact: George has a mixed English and Serbian heritage, hence his incomprehensible surname. It is worth noting that he is not at all sensitive about how you pronounce it so take your best shot!

When it became clear that there were no further developmental opportunities available, she worked in a High Court Enforcement office typing correspondence and joined the Mitchell Adam team December 2017.

“I’ve found I enjoy supporting smaller teams where I am responsible for my own workload, which makes this role at Mitchell Adam perfect for me. Whilst working here I’ve found I can use a wide set of my skills and no day is exactly the same as any other.”

Louise spends most of her spare time supporting her local roller derby league. If she’s not on track she’s coaching new recruits or running the café at home games. Also, she’s studying towards a History degree part-time.
